Round and Round We Go.....

Days 1 and 2 are in the books. Kendall has finished two or her three days of chemo this week and we are fixing to tackle day three. This treatment had the extra drug in in and Kendall has been so worried that it was going to make her sick. She was right.....it did. She went through the chills, the fever, the nausea and the pain the whole night. And she wasn't through. Chemo ran until 3am that morning. Most of all the symptoms happened while we were still at the hospital and the nurse took very good care of her. Every time Kendall moved, the nurse was there to help. When we got to the apartment, Kendall went straight to bed. She slept until the next day of chemo. So back to the hospital we go. By now she was feeling a little better and the hospital wasn't crowded at all. We went right in and she started chemo. It was now time for Grey's Anatomy. That's all she likes to watch on tv so it felt like we watched all of one season. Back to the apartment and Kendall went to sleep. I feel like we are either at the hospital or trying to catch up on sleep. One would think that after 6 months of this it would surely ease up. Sometimes I think it's getting harder for Kendall. Her body falls down quicker and it takes longer for her to recover. While she's having chemo, she stays so tired. But somehow, she presses on and wants to keep going. Some days I feel like I have to drag her to the hospital but she is so looking forward to the end of the tunnel.....

....So now we're back from day 3 and wait on the blood transfusions. By day 6 she will be needing blood and platelets. It's scary sometimes to think that I know all of this. Six months ago seems like an eternity. How much in the dark I was about this. Well, not going to go through all of that now. I'll wait until next month to do that.

  1. Kendall,
Keep pushing yourself until you feel
like you do not have another push
in you. Rest and then push a little
more and you will soon be through
all of this. God is there to help
    you push on.
    We love you,
    Gloria

  2. Kendall,
    Stay strong, the treatments are
almost over. I was so happy to hear
that your boyfriend got a baseball
scholarship. How proud he must be.
Two baseball scholars. Now that is
alot to talk about when together.
Keep looking towards the future and
think about how much fun you and your
friend are going to have. God Bless
the both of you and your families.
    Love,
    Gloria

  3. Happy Friday TK,

Sending all good thoughts and wishes your way and hoping you find this weekend to be more pleasant than you expect.

In reading today I found a passage that really made me think. The passage said..."we do not pray to inform God, for he already knows all things;and we do not pray to change God's mind, because he already has a plan." So why do we pray?

I think we pray because ultimately it brings us comfort. Believing begets hope. Hope shows us how to trust and trust becomes faith. It's a miraculous circle of love that is truly beautiful in it's structure and purpose.

    Thank you Lord.

    Lifting you up

  5. Kendall and Daryl, You are in our prayers daily. It is so hard to read of the trials Kendall endures but we just trust the God will see her to the end and her strength and character will be so much more than the rest of us. God has special plans for you all. We love you. Keep up the good fight, you are almost to knock it out.

    God Bless You,

    Ann and Nick Getwan

  6. When my daughter was going through her first treatment for leukemia, one of her nurses was trying to prepare her for what was to come. She told her when her counts dropped she would feel like she had the worse case of the flu ever. Needless to say it scared the wits out of her, and it did feel to her like the worse case of flu EVER!!!! That was seven years ago this week. On February 14, Kelly, my daughter, will celebrate 7 years in remission. God is so good. Kendall, keep the faith. Your light is, at the end of the tunnel. Daryl, I know what you are going through as a parent. You keep the faith too.

    Love and Prayers

  7. Good Monday Morning TK,

Hope you enjoyed Super Bowl Sunday!!!!

All through this blog is the continued referral to Phillipians 4:13..."I can do all things through Christ who strenghtens me."

I've been thinking about that and the miracles associated with God's power...Like...Gideon's army of 300 would never have defeated an ememy of 10,000...and...David's confidence in God enabled him to slay Goliath...and...Noah's faith saved his family from the floods. All through the bible we see this important truth.

Prayers today in thanksgiving for God's faithfulness toward us and his immeasurable sacrifice for us. Enable us Lord to rise to every occasion regardless of the difficulty of circumstance. When we struggle with uncertainty and discouragement, fill us with hope and faith. Allow our trials to be testimony to your goodness.

    Lifting you up,
    Randy, Tina and Nicolette
