Sunday in the South

Another day almost officially over. The day seemed especially long today for some reason. Could it be that we are anticipating taking Kendall out of the hospital? Or is it that this will be her last chemotherapy treatment? Whatever it was, it made for a long day. Kendall was a little more tired today than the previous ones. I see that each day is growing harder for her, but she still smiles and laughs looking forward to Monday. Tammy came in this morning a little after 8:00am and said that going to the apartment didn't work. She slept for a little bit, but was up around 3:30am and could not go back to sleep. I think I would've had more sleep if Kendall had stopped hitting me with the pillow. Apparently, I have a snoring problem and kept her up. But Kendall sleep really good other than that. She said it's the most she has slept since we've been here. We did get up and share a midnight snack together. Doritos!!

We tried to get Kendall to go walk today and she said she didn't want to. She was quiet most of the day but did manage to color several more pictures. The nurse went over some of the procedures for being discharged tomorrow and said that the whole Leukemia team of doctors would meet with us to go over Kendall's treatment. She advised us of some of the things Kendall was going to have to do on a daily basis.

Not much else happened today, I'm leaving a little early to try and prepare the apartment a little more for Kendall's arrival tomorrow.

  1. Hi Kiddo, I'm sitting here at work and thinking of you.Every time I reach for something I see my "Team Kendall" bracelet and think of you.Obviously I'm not getting much work done but oh well!!I'm sure your nurses are getting ready to start your last dose of chemo so I know that you probably won't get much sleep again tonight,But maybe tomorrow night you will be at the apartment and can rest better. I love seeing the pics of you and just seeing your smiling face lifts my spirits! Know that you are in our prayers everyday and we know that we serve an awesome God and that he will continue to carry you through. Many people are waiting for the next batch of bracelets to come in so they can buy them, hope you know how many people love you. We can't wait to see you again!!! Love you!! Hello and thank you so much for sharing updates and pictures of what is going on with yall. I was so saddened to hear about Kendall but know that she is a strong person and can beat this through all the many prayers being said for her. Lauren (my daughter)has always thought so much of Kendall from when they played softball together several years ago. They both made me think of each other in looks and I would sometimes mistake Kendall for Lauren when they were in the dugout.
Another reason I am writing is to let you know that my Dad is a truckdriver for AAA Cooper and his route is B'ham to Houston Monday through Friday of every week. He usually gets to Houston at night. If yall should need anything brought out, just let me know and I can get with him on how to arrange it. He is in Birmingham every morning usually somewhere between 8a and 11a so whatever you might need could be brought to him at the B'ham terminal and he could bring out to Houston and for yall to get from the terminal in Houston. I just thought I would offer this option should you need to. I know Tammy knows my mother and daddy well from over the years banking at South Trust (Frank and Virgie Calvert). Please email me at joan.kilpatrick@charter.net, text or call me on my cell (205)566-6221 if you need me to do anything or to get in touch with my dad.
I will continue to keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

  5. Good Morning Kendall, Tammy and Daryl,
Monday is here, sounds like you will be going
to the apt. This is such great news. I pray
that each of you will get more rest now that
everyone will be together in their private
quarters. I will be looking for the next post.
Kendall, take care of yourself, rest and know
that everyone in Daphne is thinking of you and
    sending up alot of prayers.
    Love,
    Gloria

Good morning sweet Kendall! Just got Dylan on the school bus and Pawpaw off to play golf, grabbed a second cup of coffee and sat down at the computer to read the latest blog and comments. I hope it makes you smile that sweet smile as you read how much and how many people love you, and are praying for your healing. It warms my heart to see and feel the outpouring of love and concern from so many people on this blog, and I know there are many others who speak so fondly of you, but have not necessarily posted anything to this blog site.

I want you know that Pawpaw and I are among the army of "Team Kendall" prayer warriors who are constantly thinking of you and praying for your complete recovery. We love you, Tammy and Daryl so very much, and miss all of you like crazy. Keep smiling, my precious granddaughter, who I think should have been nicknamed "sunshine", because every time you smile, it is like a ray of pure sunshine.

Just remember that God is in control, and even though none of us here on this earth knows His plan, He does have one for you. We are lifting up prayers many times each day and night, for you and Tammy and Daryl, and for the physicians and nurses giving you treatments, and pray for healing, rest and peace.

Get better so we can come to see all of you soon.

Love and hugs and kisses to all,
    Granny Lyn and Pawpaw Ed

  7. Hiya Team Kendall,

We are filled with joy at the miracles that continue to come...I know it seems like forever, but you guys have only been gone one week and Kendall's is getting out of the hospital...I say the power of prayer coupled with God's tender mercy has blessed Kendall with pure Grace!!! A great big 'WHOOPEE' and 'WOOHOO' from Gardendale.

    Today's thought -

"When facing a difficult task, act as though it is impossible to fail. If you're going after Moby Dick, take along the tartar sauce." - Unknown

We got our names on a list at Chevron to get some of the next batch bracelets...Kendall, your popularity is showing. I thought I was like one of the first people to go get the bracelet but noooooo, uh uh, all sold out!!!

Am checking today on the parking pass for you guys and will let you know if you have to pick it up or if they will get it to you. Not sure exactly how it will work, but I will figure it out.

Prayers to day for ease of tension and stress, rest (the renewing, recharging kind), easy transition from hospital to apartment, and a settling in that will bring contentment and comfort to all three of you.

FYI, Tammy, I watched close yesterday and didn't pick up on anything out of the ordinary. He's doing okay, I promise.

    Lifting you up...

    Tina, Randy and Nicolette

  10. Good Morning Kendall Lane, Tammy & Darryl.....Hope you all are doing well today & can get a break frm hospital life for a few. I think of you all every day when I am running around Gardendale doing my usual stuff and it hits me that your everydays have kinda stopped still but it is more like hurry up and wait. I am trying not to complain about things that aggravate me when they don't go just right, it really is just trivial stuff. Be strong and know that my thoughts and prayers are always with you. Love. Sheri

  15. Hello Kendall, Tammy and Daryl
I have been following your "adventure" since I found out that you were there for surgery the same day I was at St Vincents. After I woke up from my shunt surgery, my wife Tammy told me that she had run into your Aunt Stacy and Sierra in the waiting room and told us your story. I kept thinking you may have been in the same holding room as I was and I didn't even know. I just want to let you know that you have been in my prayers daily since then.

I have a link that I will share with you that I have shared with other believers who have cancer. I hope you find this helpful. The link is www.desiringgod.org/ResourceLibrary/TasteandSee/ByDate/2006/1776_Dont_Waste_Your_Cancer/

Also, here are some Scripture reminders that you all may find helpful. Read these for a reassurance of promises from our Lord and God.
Joshua 1:9; Isaiah 41:10; Zephaniah 3:17. Please read these aloud to comfort and strengthen you. These are promises of our Lord that you can claim as a Believer.

I pray that our Jehovah Rapha (The Lord our Healer) will continue to heal you according to His will and that you may have His peace and comfort in these trying days.

    In Christ's love,
    Brian, Tammy and Lauren Hall
