Stepping Forward

Nobody really likes to go to the doctor, usually because there is something wrong. As much as we have been to the doctor with Kendall over the past month, I wouldn't have believed that we actually enjoyed the doctor visit today. This morning we took Kendall in early to have blood work done. The meeting after is what was the good part. Kendall is in "Bone Marrow Remission"!!!!! She has met every goal for the first part of the treatment that the doctors set for her. We are officially in part 2 of the treatment. CONSOLIDATION is what they call it. Kendall's bone marrow aspiration showed that the blasts were under 5. 5 was the magic number we were hoping for. Now, why this is very good news....we still have a long way to go to Complete Remission. She still has at least 5 more chemotherapy treatments to go spaced out over the next 4-5 months. Infection can still be very dangerous to her and we will still have to be careful with her when the counts are low. But still, it is exciting. The Physicians Assistant that was telling us this said that Kendall did extremely well and her counts recovered very fast. Kendall....I....we....owe this to God. I believe that God is with us for Kendall's Journey. To God be the glory.

It's hard for me to not get emotional over this...because I want to. But I know, it is still going to be a long road. It's like all the times I practiced with Kendall on pitching and hitting for softball. She kept working hard to improve herself to strive to be the best that she can be. I know that she believes in herself and is not going to quit "practicing" with this until she wins.

We were supposed to start the chemo today but the treatment was going to last about 6-7 hours, so the doctors changed it to tomorrow. We will start around 9:00am and go for the next 4 days. Then the repeat cleanliness begins. We've already sanitized the apartment.

I want to thank all of you again for your continued support and prayers for Kendall. You have meant more to us than you know. We owe alot of this success to you. It would not have been possible without you. At times I have struggled to write on here but I know that you have been as concerned for Kendall as we have been. I wanted to make all of you a part of this journey and hope that you continue with us. Kendall has expressed many times about how overwhelmed she has been for the love that you have shown her. I am praying for God to lay his hands on you and give you his blessings. That he continues to be with you at all times.

Deuteronomy 32:3
I will proclaim the name of the LORD.
Oh, praise the greatness of our God!

  2. Dear Team Kendall,
I am so happy that you received good news today. I pray that this is just the first of many "good Days at the Doctor" My friend and church member Dylan Cannon completed his very last chemo treatment today and I pray that you will also see the "last" treatment coming your way soon. Kendall, I told Dylan that he needs to send you his "cancer" card. It is a joke we have running with him that if he wants something special or not to do something he will pull the cancer card. A friend of ours at church actually made him a laminated card that says I have cancer. He has used it many times to get his way. I told him now that he is better he needs to send it to you so that you can have your special times and get out of doing things that you don't want to do. Please know that your family is in my constant prayers.
    In Christ,

Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow...

What a great report from the doctors! We continue to pray for complete healing for Kendall, and for strength to make it through another day for all of you. Attitude is half the battle, and no doubt, the attitude of self confidence and "swagger" is apparent in Kendall, as she has always shown. Daryl, your writing has shown all of us a "swagger" we didn't know you had, and Tammy, your positive focus is another "swagger" shining through to encourage all of us.

We love all of you so much, and miss you, and are looking forward to seeing you in person, so we can get and give some serious group hugs! We will work on getting Kendall's room cleaned and sanitized for her anticipated arrival. (Hmmm, may have to have some help - remember what her room looks like???) 8-)

Keep strong in your faith, and know that we love you more than words can possibly say!

    Love you bunches and bunches,
    Granny Lyn and Pawpaw Ed

  9. Hiya TK,

I'm overwhelmed with joy. Praise HIM is right. Just this week I was praying for a break for you guys, remember...is this a break or what?!!!!

Today's thought..."Your Father knoweth what things you have need of before you ask him." - Matthew 6:8

Meeting challenges head on is so easy to say and there are many quotes and sayings about it...about strength, courage, inspiration. But to do it, really do it, is hard. It has to be difficult to get up every day and say I'll do it again. When I stop and think about what you guys are going through, it almost swallows me up. You're so much more than an inspiration. Thank you for taking on this challenge full steam and demonstrating every day how to live.

Prayers for 19 days of good in every way. Thank you Lord for all.

    Lifting you up
    Randy, Tina and Nicolette

  15. We are told to cry out to God and he will answer. We have cried out, He has answered, God Is Good. I was so excited yesterday morning when Chase text me to let me know it was final that you could move on to the consolidation stage.I stopped what i was doing and gave God all the Praise!!! We know he is the only GREAT PHYSICIAN.

Kendall I am in so awe of you through all of this. God sees your strengh he knows you are working right along him living his plan. He is so proud of you just as we all are. God loves someone who stands up and fights evil. That is what I know you are doing and doing it so brilliantly that your strength is your testimony.

Take in this time of your life and feel God cleanse your blood and show you a mircle. You will be sharing your story one day and will be the inspiration someone will need to hear because they will be where you were and you know every ounce of what they are feeling and going thru.

"The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be still" Exodus 14:14.

Kendall keep up your amazing strengh and know we will not stop crying out until you have complete healing and restoration. And then it will be praising God for his amazing Grace.
Know we love you and are right here with you through the whole journey. The Handley's

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, 'says the Lord, 'thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future" Jeremiah 29:11.

    Love and prayers,

  20. Thank you so much for keeping this blog going! I try to read up every day and see how all of you are doing. All of you are so often in my thoughts. I didn't realize how much Kendall's journey has come to mean to me, but my eagerness to catch up every day tells the tale. She and the entire family have become my family as well. I hope the road to recovery is a short and quick one. I know that your family here misses all of you terribly. I hope to meet Kendall soon, as she has become a bigger part of my life than I could have ever imagined. Daryl, your's and Tammy's strength through all of this is amazing. God must surely be smiling down on all of you. Your faith hasn't waivered. This journey has touched more people than you know...
